ESPN reporting Favre traded to the Jets. That sucks, I was hoping for the Bucs.

As a long-suffering Jets fan, I am quite pleased, actually. Though I can't imagine Favre is particularly pleased. Hopefully, it'll be an exciting season for us at least!! He's definitely an upgrade over Chad and Clemens, but I hope we get the Favre of 2007, not the Favre the year before when he threw 30 picks!

    I was just curious.

I assume there's something in the contract that will not allow the Jets to now trade Favre to the Vikings??

I'm a Colts fan, no interest in the Jets or Vikings. So as an outsider, I was interested in seeing just how good the Vikings might be with their running game and defense with Favre in the mix, and I wanted to see Vikings vs. Packers in week 1. We know that's where Favre wanted to go.

Just wondering if this could happen (not that I think it will). Or is there something in the contract or just a gentleman's handshake that won't allow it?

It's been reported that part of the trade is that a jets trade of favre to minnesota gives the packers the jets #1 for the next 3 years.

It's funny because I could see Pennington going to Minnesota. He would do well in a dome.

looking for Topps 71-72 hi's-62-53-54-55-59, I have these sets started

  • Green Bay may end up kicking themselves. I am curious to see how well Ryan Grant can run now when teams are looking for it. Green Bay wants to be a running team, and now they get their wish...too bad they don't have Ladanian Tomlinson to do the running.

I am sure Cotchery and Coles are quite happy today. Thomas Jones isn't the best RB, but he brings enough to the table(along with leon Washington), to make the Jets a pretty good offense(with Favre added). Favre's addition should make Jones and Washington better.

I am curious to see how good the speedy Coles could be while catching bullets in stride.

I am happy Favre came back. I wish Barry Sanders came back before too. I would rather see the great ones play longer, than some scrub that would be playing in their place.

Sanders had a chance to set a record out of anyone's grasp, and too bad he didn't stay to do it...it would have been fun as a sports fan to witness it.

Same for Favre with the TD's...though Manning may end up breaking it anyway...it is fun to witness as a sports fan.

I am quite positive that the NFL is VERY VERY happy that Favre came back, AND he is in New York. How many New Yorkers have already placed an order for a #4 Jets jersey? How often will the Jets now be the game that is televised nationally on on Sunday, like Green Bay always was?

People can cry and moan about the soap opera, but he wants to play, and a team wants him. The criers----too bad.

Well that answers my question as to why that won't happen.

    thanks

I am so glad NY took my advice.

To the team owners, the NFL is about making money; not about winning FB games.

And, the buzz-money that the greatest city on the planet is going
to make from this thing is not possible to estimate. People
will come from around the WORLD to see the JETS play.

America's new team has been chosen.

The jersey sites are all crashing from folks wanting to buy shirts.

Hmm. Pretty good running with rookie/inexperienced quarterback = bad [fantasy] numbers for the running back and bad season for the team. Sounds a little like the 49ers with Frank Gore and Alex Smith. I'm not saying that the Packers will be as bad at the 49ers, but I wouldn't be surprised.
